Keep a Record of His Faithfulness

Open to His Overflow

Remember what God has done. Carry that truth into what comes next.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 77:11–12

“I will remember the works of the LORD.”
Psalm 77:11 · KJV excerpt

Devotional Reflection

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Before October ends, give yourself a moment to remember.

There may still be unanswered prayers, responsibilities waiting, and situations you wish looked different. Yet those unfinished places do not erase the ways God has already sustained you.

This week, we are building a record of His faithfulness—something you can return to when uncertainty gets loud.

In Psalm 77, the writer brings real distress and difficult questions before God. Then he makes a deliberate choice: he remembers God’s works and meditates on what God has done. His remembering happens while he still needs reassurance.

You can practice that, too.

Remember the conversation that brought clarity. The strength to face a difficult morning. The person who checked on you. The wisdom to respond differently. The provision that helped you through another day.

Some evidence of grace is quiet enough to overlook while you are living through it. Writing it down gives you a way to recognize it later.

You do not have to call a painful season good to acknowledge that God has met you within it.

As we continue living open to His overflow, let us become attentive to what we have received. A remembered mercy can become an anchor. A recorded lesson can guide a future decision. A testimony shared honestly can encourage someone who is still waiting.

God’s faithfulness deserves a place in your memory—and on the page.

Life Application: Six Days of Remembrance

Monday, October 26 — Notice
Identify one specific evidence of grace today. Describe what happened.

Tuesday, October 27 — Record
Write about a moment when God sustained you through something difficult.

Wednesday, October 28 — Learn
Name one lesson from that experience that can guide you now.

Thursday, October 29 — Share
Tell someone one honest story of God’s faithfulness. You can acknowledge what remains unresolved.

Friday, October 30 — Preserve
Save a verse, journal entry, or short note where you can find it when you need encouragement.

Saturday, October 31 — Carry It Forward
Read the reminders you recorded this week. Choose one that strengthens your faith, and carry it into November with this prayer: “Lord, help me remember Your faithfulness as I enter a new month.”

Affirmations

  • My present questions do not erase God’s past faithfulness.
  • I can acknowledge pain and recognize grace.
  • My story contains reminders worth preserving.
  • I will carry the lessons God has taught me into what comes next.
  • I will enter a new month remembering the grace that has sustained me.

Journal & Reflect

Type your reflections, then copy and paste them into your own notes before leaving this page.

Closing Reflection: Carry It Into November

You do not have to enter November with every question answered. Take with you the lessons, the remembered mercies, and the evidence of God’s care. Let the record you began this week become something you continue.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for the ways You have carried me, including the ones I hurried past without recognizing. Help me remember Your works with honesty and gratitude. When my questions feel heavy, bring Your faithfulness to mind. Teach me to preserve the lessons, notice Your care, and share my testimony with humility. As October draws toward its close, help me carry these reminders into the days ahead. In Jesus’ name, amen.

October 31 Prayer

Father, thank You for meeting me throughout October. Help me preserve what You have taught me and recognize Your care in the days ahead. As November begins, guide my steps and keep my heart attentive to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

With love,
Nanette

A Little Grace for the Delay 💛

Grace makes room for life—and God can make even a delayed message arrive at the right moment.

Good morning, Grace Family.

First, I want to apologize for the lateness of our devotional messages for September 18–21. This weekend, I had the beautiful honor of helping host and officiate a family wedding. It was a full few days of love, preparation, family, laughter, happy tears, and the sacred privilege of standing before two people as they made a covenant to walk through life together.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, God reminded me of something important: Grace makes room for life.

Sometimes our routines shift. Sometimes the schedule gets full. Sometimes God allows us to step away from the normal rhythm so we can be fully present for a moment that matters. This weekend was one of those moments for me.

To not only celebrate with family, but to stand in the role of officiant and witness love, commitment, faith, and family come together was truly an honor.

And through it all, God was still there. His Word was still true. His grace did not expire because the devotional arrived a little later than planned.

So today, we are catching up together—not with guilt, but with gratitude.

Grace for the Unexpected

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” — Proverbs 16:9 (NLT)

We plan our days, organize our calendars, make our lists, and sometimes believe everything should happen exactly when we planned it.

Then life happens.

An unexpected responsibility comes up. Someone needs us. Plans change. A beautiful opportunity arrives that we did not schedule.

The unexpected does not always mean something has gone wrong. Sometimes it means God is inviting us to experience something we could not have planned for ourselves.

Give yourself permission today to loosen your grip on the schedule. God is not surprised by what interrupted you. He can still use the day. He can still order your steps. He can still bring purpose out of the unexpected.

Life Application

Instead of asking, “Why is this interrupting my plans?” ask, “God, what are You showing me here?”

Affirmation

I trust God with the plans I made and the moments I did not expect.

Journal Prompt

Where do I need to become more flexible and trust God with the unexpected?

September 19, 2026

Be Present for the Beautiful

“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24 (NLT)

Sometimes we are so busy thinking about what needs to happen next that we miss what is happening right now.

We take the picture but miss the moment. We complete the task but miss the joy. We prepare for tomorrow while rushing through today.

But some moments deserve our full presence: a wedding, a conversation, a hug, a family gathering, a quiet cup of coffee, or a laugh with someone we love.

Today is not just something to get through. It is a gift.

Slow down long enough to notice what God placed in front of you. Because some of the sweetest memories of your life may be hiding inside what once looked like an ordinary day.

Life Application

Put the phone down for a few minutes today and intentionally experience one moment without rushing to the next thing.

Affirmation

I will not rush past the blessings God placed in today.

Journal Prompt

What beautiful moment have I recently experienced that I want to remember?

September 20, 2026

Love Is Worth Celebrating

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)

Love deserves to be celebrated. Not just romantic love.

Family love. Friendship love. God’s love. Love that stayed. Love that forgave. Love that grew. Love that survived hard seasons.

Every time we gather to celebrate love, we are reminded that relationships require intention.

Love is more than a feeling. Sometimes love looks like showing up. Sometimes it looks like patience. Sometimes it looks like forgiveness. Sometimes it looks like choosing each other again.

And sometimes love looks like standing before family and friends, speaking words of faith and commitment, and watching two people begin a new chapter together.

Today, celebrate the people God has placed in your life. Do not wait for a special occasion to tell someone they are loved.

Life Application

Call, text, or speak to someone today and tell them specifically why you appreciate them.

Affirmation

I will give love freely, receive love gratefully, and never take meaningful relationships for granted.

Journal Prompt

Who has shown me genuine love, and how can I honor that relationship?

September 21, 2026

Begin Again Without Guilt

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” — Lamentations 3:22–23 (NLT)

Maybe you fell behind. Maybe you missed a day. Maybe the routine got interrupted. Maybe life became busier than expected.

Here is your reminder: You can begin again.

God does not stand over you saying, “You should have done better.” He meets you with fresh mercy.

We spend far too much time punishing ourselves for yesterday when God is offering grace for today.

You do not need to catch up perfectly. You do not need to explain everything. You simply need to take the next step.

Open the Bible again. Pray again. Journal again. Rest again. Try again. Believe again.

The beautiful thing about grace is that God allows us to begin again without carrying the shame of being human. Today is fresh. Receive it.

Life Application

Choose one thing you have been feeling guilty about falling behind on and gently restart today.

Affirmation

I release yesterday, receive today’s mercy, and move forward in grace.

Journal Prompt

What do I need to stop feeling guilty about and simply begin again?

Grace For Today 💛

Maybe these messages arrived a little later than planned, but perhaps somebody needed these words right now.

That is the beautiful thing about God. He knows how to make even a delayed message arrive at the right moment.

This weekend I was blessed to celebrate family, help host a beautiful wedding, and have the sacred honor of officiating the ceremony. It reminded me that sometimes ministry does not always look like sitting down to write a devotional.

Sometimes ministry looks like standing beside people on one of the most important days of their lives. Sometimes it looks like serving family. Sometimes it looks like showing up fully for the moment God has placed in front of you.

So breathe. Release the pressure. Celebrate the beautiful moments. Love your people. And when life interrupts your schedule, remember: Grace makes room for life.

With love,
Nanette

Let Care Reach You, Too

You are part of the circle of care.

Scripture reading: 2 Corinthians 8:13–15

Devotional Reflection

You know how to notice what someone else needs. You remember the appointments, recognize the tired voice, prepare the meal, and adjust your plans. But when someone asks, ‘What do you need?’ you may answer, ‘I’m fine,’ before you have even considered the question.

This week, let God’s overflow reach the part of you that struggles to receive.

In 2 Corinthians 8, Paul addresses practical generosity between believers. He explains that giving should bring relief without leaving others overwhelmed. Resources can move toward the person who needs them; circumstances may change, and those who give can also receive.

There is a caregiver lesson here: you belong inside the circle of care.

Being dependable does not mean you have no needs. Accepting a meal, asking someone to handle an errand, or admitting that you need company gives another person a meaningful way to love you.

Sometimes receiving feels uncomfortable because you cannot control how someone else helps. Their method may differ from yours. Use wisdom about what requires clear instructions and what can simply be done differently. Shared responsibility needs room to grow.

As October draws toward its close, practice this next step in being open to His overflow: let support become something you actually accept.

You do not have to earn care by becoming exhausted.

Life Application: Six Days of Receiving

Monday, October 26 — Name your need: Write one honest sentence: This week, I need help with ______.

Tuesday, October 27 — Make a specific request: Try: Could you bring dinner Thursday? or Could you call and check on me tomorrow?

Wednesday, October 28 — Receive without apologizing: Practice saying, Thank you. That helps me.

Thursday, October 29 — Share ownership: Let a trusted person complete one appropriate task without supervising every detail.

Friday, October 30 — Notice what changed: Reflect on how receiving support affected your energy, your relationships, or your sense of connection.

Saturday, October 31 — Carry Care Forward: As October closes, consider the support you want to continue receiving. One helpful moment can become a sustainable rhythm: a weekly check-in, a shared errand, or a regular afternoon of relief. Give that support a place in November. Choose one support practice and make a specific plan with a trusted person.

Affirmations

  • My needs deserve honest attention.
  • I can receive love without immediately repaying it.
  • Asking for help is a practice of wisdom.
  • God can care for me through other people.
  • Shared care can sustain us.
  • I can enter a new month with support, honest needs, and an open heart.

Journal Space

Type your reflections, then copy and paste them into your own notes before leaving this page.

Closing Prayer

Father, You see the needs I speak aloud and the ones I keep tucked behind “I’m fine.” Help me recognize where I need support. Give me courage to ask clearly, wisdom to choose trustworthy help, and grace to receive it. When another person offers kindness, help me welcome it without guilt. Bless those who share this work with me. Let Your overflow reach my life through practical love, honest conversations, and shared responsibility. In Jesus’ name, amen.

October 31 Prayer

Father, thank You for every kindness that reached me this month. Help me carry these lessons forward and build a rhythm of shared care. Keep my heart open to Your provision. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Joy Still Belongs Here

You are a whole person, even while caring for someone else.

“…the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10 · KJV excerpt

Weekend Reflection

When someone depends on you, your conversations can become updates, your calendar can become appointments, and your own interests can quietly disappear beneath everyone else’s needs.

But the woman behind the caregiving still matters. God sees your creativity, your humor, your friendships, and the things that make your eyes light up.

In Nehemiah 8, the people wept as they heard God’s Word. They were then invited to celebrate, share food, and draw strength from the Lord’s joy. Their tears were real, and there was still room for celebration.

That truth meets us in caregiving, too. You can feel concern for someone you love and enjoy a funny conversation. You can carry grief and find pleasure in a favorite song. A beautiful moment does not mean you have forgotten the difficult ones.

After a week focused on putting faith into motion, this weekend invites another faithful practice: staying connected to the life God has placed within you.

You do not have to manufacture happiness. Simply notice the small invitations to delight—a familiar melody, a shared memory, something you create with your hands. Let those moments matter.

Life Application

Saturday, October 24 — Reconnect: Spend ten minutes enjoying something that expresses who you are beyond your responsibilities. Choose it for the pleasure it brings, without turning it into another project.

Sunday, October 25 — Share joy: Invite a gentle moment of connection: share a funny memory, listen to a favorite song together, or call someone whose company you enjoy. Let the moment unfold without pressure.

Affirmations

  • My love is sincere, even when I laugh.
  • My life holds meaning beyond my responsibilities.
  • Joy and sorrow can share the same day.
  • God sees and cherishes the whole of me.

Journal Space

Type your reflections, then copy and paste them into your own notes before leaving this page.

Closing Prayer

Lord, You know the responsibilities I carry and the parts of myself I have placed on hold. Awaken my attention to the beauty still around me. When laughter comes, help me welcome it without guilt. When joy feels distant, meet me tenderly there. Bless my connections, stir my creativity, and help me care for others while staying connected to the person You created me to be. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Let Someone Hold a Corner

Receiving help is an act of wisdom.

“and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side”
Exodus 17:12 · KJV excerpt

Today’s Message

After making room for what God is doing, we can learn to recognize how His provision arrives. Sometimes it comes through someone willing to carry groceries, prepare dinner, sit with a loved one, or listen without rushing us.

Moses’ hands grew tired while he was doing what God had called him to do. Aaron and Hur came alongside him and supported those weary hands. His need for support did not cancel his faithfulness.

Caregiver, you can love deeply and still need someone beside you. You do not have to reach exhaustion before your needs deserve attention.

Perhaps this week’s step of faith is a specific request: “Could you bring dinner Tuesday?” “Can you handle this errand?” “Would you call and check on me?”

When safe, dependable help comes, practice receiving it. Give clear directions where they matter, and allow room for someone else’s way of doing things. Shared care can create space for you to eat, rest, pray, or simply finish a thought.

Let someone hold a corner. You are worthy of care, too.

Life Application — Five Days of Shared Care

October 19 — Monday: Name one task you need help carrying.

October 20 — Tuesday: Ask one person for specific, manageable support.

October 21 — Wednesday: Receive help with a simple “Thank you.”

October 22 — Thursday: Allow a trusted helper to do a task differently while honoring essential care needs.

October 23 — Friday: Reflect on what shared care made possible.

Today’s Affirmations

  • I can be dependable and still need support.
  • Receiving care does not diminish my love.
  • I can express my needs honestly.
  • God can provide strength through community.

Closing Prayer

Father, You see the responsibilities I carry and the needs I leave unspoken. Give me courage to ask for help before I am depleted. Bless those who share the care, and remind me that I am also someone You cherish. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Make Room for What God Is Doing

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 3:20 and Isaiah 43:19

God’s power reaches beyond what we can ask or imagine. Isaiah reminds us to pay attention to the new thing God is doing—even when the way ahead looks like a wilderness.

Today’s Reflection

Caregiver, your days can become so full of meeting everyone else’s needs that receiving feels unfamiliar. You know how to show up, organize, encourage, and keep going. But when someone asks, “What do you need?” you may struggle to answer.

This weekend, make room to receive.

Making room may mean accepting a meal, letting someone handle an errand, or sitting quietly without using that moment to plan the next task. You can love deeply and still need rest.

God’s overflow may arrive as peace before the answer, strength for a difficult conversation, or help you finally allow yourself to accept. These Scriptures invite hope in His power and attentiveness to His work; they do not give us a timetable for every outcome.

You can bring Him your uncertainty. You can loosen your grip one prayer at a time.

You are worthy of the care you so freely give.

Life Application

October 17 — Release: Name one concern you cannot control. Pray over it, and write down what you are entrusting to God.

October 18 — Receive: Ask for one specific form of help. Use that space for ten quiet minutes of rest, Scripture, or prayer.

Today’s Affirmations

  • I can receive care while giving care.
  • My need for rest does not diminish my love.
  • God is at work beyond what I can see.
  • I make room for grace, rest, and hope.

Journal Space

Type your reflections, then copy and paste them into your own notes before leaving this page.

Closing Prayer

Father, You know everything my heart is carrying. Quiet my striving and help me release what I cannot control. Give me courage to ask for help and humility to receive it. Open my eyes to Your work, even when it comes in small, quiet ways. As I care for those I love, remind me that I am held in Your love, too. Fill me with peace for today and hope for the steps ahead. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Grace for today. Room for what comes next.

You Can Care Deeply Without Carrying Everything

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:7 NIV

Today’s Message

Sometimes the heaviest part of caregiving is everything you carry in your mind.

The appointments. The medications. The changes you watch for. The questions that follow you into bed: Did I do enough? What happens next? Who will help if I need a break?

You can sit down and still feel like you are on duty.

God sees that hidden weight. His invitation to surrender your anxiety includes the concerns you cannot neatly explain, the tears you swallow, and the exhaustion behind your “I’m okay.”

This week, make room to breathe by naming what feels heavy. You do not have to pretend it is easy to prove that you love someone.

You can love deeply and need relief. You can be faithful and feel frustrated. You can give compassionate care and ask someone else to take a turn.

Releasing worry to God may be a prayer you repeat throughout the day. Receiving help may begin with one specific request. Rest may start with ten quiet minutes while someone you trust handles the next task.

Your needs belong in the care plan, too.

Life Application · Five Days of Breathing Room

October 12 — Name it. Tell God what is weighing on you without editing your feelings.

October 13 — Ask. Make one specific request: “Can you handle dinner?” or “Can you sit with them while I rest?”

October 14 — Release. Identify one outcome you cannot control and place it in God’s hands.

October 15 — Receive. Accept an offer of help without apologizing for needing it.

October 16 — Restore. Set aside a supported pause for prayer, fresh air, a meal, or quiet.

Today’s Affirmations

  • I am loved beyond what I do.
  • I can care deeply and honor my limits.
  • Receiving help is an act of wisdom.
  • My needs deserve attention, too.
  • God cares for the caregiver.

Journal Space

Father, You see the work my hands do and the weight my heart carries. Help me speak honestly about my needs. Give me courage to ask for support and grace to receive it. When worry rises, remind me that I can bring it to You again. Refresh my spirit and guide my next step. Let me experience Your care while I care for someone I love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You Are Allowed to Exhale

Let your shoulders come down. God is holding you, too.

“My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.”
— Psalm 62:5 KJV

Today’s Message

Sometimes caregiving has you holding your breath without realizing it—waiting for the next call, listening for movement, remembering what needs to happen next. Even when the room is quiet, your mind may still be working.

But, dear caregiver, you are allowed to exhale.

You can love someone deeply and still need a break. You can be grateful for another day together and still feel tired. Neither feeling cancels the other.

This Scripture invites your soul to wait upon God. You do not have to manufacture strength for every possible tomorrow. Bring Him the concern in front of you, the exhaustion you cannot explain, and the needs you keep putting last.

A pause may not finish the laundry or change a diagnosis. But it can give you room to notice your own heart and receive care.

Today, loosen your shoulders. Unclench your jaw. Let someone help where they can. You are a loving caregiver—and you are someone worth caring for.

Life Application

October 11 — Make room for a pause. When your loved one’s immediate needs are covered, take five quiet minutes. Breathe gently and pray, “God, I place this worry in Your hands.”

October 12 — Make room for support. Ask for one specific form of help: a meal, an errand, a listening ear, or time with your loved one so you can rest. Let your request be clear.

Today’s Affirmations

  • I can pause and still be a loving caregiver.
  • My needs deserve care, too.
  • Accepting help does not diminish my love.
  • God meets me in this moment.

Journal Space

Type your reflections, then copy and paste them into your own notes before leaving this page.

Prayer

Father, You see the love I give and the weariness I carry. Quiet my heart and soften my shoulders. Help me recognize my needs without guilt and ask for support with honesty. Bless those I care for, and teach me to receive care, too. As I face these next two days, give me wisdom for each responsibility and room to breathe in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You Can Care Deeply Without Carrying Everything

“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee.”
— Psalm 55:22, KJV

Today’s Message

Some days, caregiving begins before your feet touch the floor. You’re already thinking about medications, meals, appointments, and who needs you next. Somewhere in that mental checklist, your own needs get pushed aside.

You love deeply. And you are tired. Both can be true.

God sees the tears you wipe away before entering the next room. He hears the prayers that sound more like sighs. You do not have to hide your exhaustion from Him or prove your love by reaching the point of depletion.

Casting your burden on God may begin with an honest prayer: “Lord, this is heavy.” It may also mean asking someone to bring dinner, cover an errand, or sit with your loved one while you take a break.

Over these four days, make room to breathe. Everything may not be finished when you pause. Your worth was never measured by a completed checklist.

Life Application

Before your next task, take three slow breaths. Name one worry in prayer. Ask for one specific act of help: “Could you bring dinner?” or “Could you stay for thirty minutes while I rest?” Protect a small pocket of quiet without filling it with another chore.

Today’s Affirmations

  • I can love faithfully and still need rest.
  • Receiving help does not diminish my love.
  • God sees me, not only what I do.
  • I am a loving caregiver, not a limitless one.

Journal Space

What feels heaviest today?

What help do I need to ask for?

What can I release into God’s hands?

What would room to breathe look like for me this week?

You Can Love Deeply and Still Need a Break

“He restoreth my soul.”
— Psalm 23:3 KJV

Today’s Message

Some days, caregiving feels like answering one need before you have recovered from the last. You keep track of appointments, notice the changes, manage the details, and try to keep your own emotions from spilling over.

But today, let this truth settle in: Your need for rest does not cancel your love.

You can be devoted and drained. Grateful and overwhelmed. Willing to serve and still wish someone would ask, “What do you need?”

God sees the caregiver behind the caregiving. Psalm 23 reminds us that the Shepherd restores our souls. You are included in His care. You do not have to earn restoration by reaching the point of collapse.

For these two days, make room to receive. A quiet cup of tea. A prayer without polished words. A task shared with someone you trust. A few moments when you are allowed to simply be.

You deserve a place in the care you give.

Life Application

October 5 — Make Room: Ask for one specific form of help: a meal, an errand, or time with your loved one. When care is covered, take a quiet pause.

October 6 — Receive Rest: Let one nonessential task wait. Spend a few minutes doing something that replenishes you, without turning it into another assignment.

Today’s Affirmations

  • My limits do not erase my love.
  • I can receive help without guilt.
  • I am worthy of care, too.
  • God restores my weary soul.

Journal Space

What is wearing me down that I have been afraid to name?

What do I need—and who can help me receive it?

Prayer

You know how to notice everyone else’s needs—the medicine, the meals, the appointments, the mood changes. But when someone asks what you need, you may answer, “I’m fine,” before you even check.

Today, give yourself permission to tell the truth.

You can love deeply and still feel depleted. You can be grateful and still need a break. You can trust God and still cry when the house finally gets quiet.

Being needed does not make you limitless. Your hunger, your tiredness, and your feelings deserve attention, too. You do not have to reach your breaking point before receiving care.

God sees the caregiver behind the caregiving. Bring Him the worry you keep swallowing and the exhaustion you keep explaining away. Let someone help with one thing today. Rest does not cancel your love.

Life Application

Take five quiet minutes when your loved one’s care is covered. Ask yourself, “What do I need right now?” Choose one small response: eat something, step outside, pray, or ask someone you trust for specific help.

Today’s Affirmations

  • My needs matter, too.
  • I can receive help without guilt.
  • God cares for me while I care for others.

Prayer

Father, help me stop overlooking myself. Give me courage to name what I need and grace to receive support. Remind me that I am Your beloved child, even when I have nothing left to give. Amen.

Day 2: Put Down the Guilt

Your pause does not cancel your love.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28 KJV

Today’s Message

Caregiver, sometimes you finally sit down, but your guilt stays standing—listing everything you could be doing.

You can love deeply and still need a break. You can be grateful for someone’s life and exhausted by the responsibility of caring for them. Both feelings can exist in the same faithful heart.

God sees the appointments, the interrupted sleep, and the feelings you swallow to keep going. His invitation to rest includes you. You do not have to reach exhaustion before your needs matter.

Today, put down the pressure to prove your love through constant availability. Receive help. Let the tears come if they need to. Make room for one quiet breath.

You are someone worth caring for, too.

Life Application

When safe care is in place, take five quiet minutes. Relax your shoulders, breathe slowly, and release one worry to God. Ask someone for one specific kind of help.

Today’s Affirmations

  • I can rest without proving I deserve it.
  • My needs matter, too.
  • God holds me while I care for others.

What guilt am I ready to release?

Where can I make room to breathe today?

Day 1: You Need Care, Too

Make room to breathe.

This month, we’re making room for the caregiver to receive care. Each day will build on rest, honest needs, accepting help, healthy boundaries, and renewed strength.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28 KJV

Today’s Message

You know everybody’s schedule. You notice the changes. You remember the medicine, the appointments, the meals—and sometimes forget whether you ate yours.

People call you strong. But being called strong does not make you less tired.

Welcome to Own Your Oxygen October. Oxygen is our reminder to make room to breathe, pray, receive support, and acknowledge what we need.

Jesus says, “Come unto me.” That invitation includes you—the one listening for a call from the next room, watching someone you love change, and carrying worries long after the house gets quiet.

You can be grateful for another day with your loved one and still need a break. You can serve faithfully and still say, “I need someone to take over for a little while.”

You do not have to disappear to prove you care.

Before October becomes another month of putting yourself last, name one need. A warm meal. Uninterrupted sleep. A conversation where someone asks how you are doing—and waits for the answer.

God cares about the person doing the caring. Let yourself receive some of that care today.

Life Application — Your Oxygen Moment

Arrange a safe handoff or choose a moment when your loved one is safely settled. Take five quiet minutes. Put down the task list, loosen your shoulders, and pray:

“Lord, this is what I need today…”

Then make one specific request for help. Give someone a task they can actually take off your plate.

Today’s Affirmations

  • My needs matter, too.
  • I can love deeply and accept help.
  • Rest belongs in my life.
  • God’s care reaches me right where I am.

Prayer

Lord, You see the work people notice and the weight they never see. Help me speak honestly about my needs. Give me courage to receive help and make room for rest. As I care for someone I love, remind me that I am deeply loved, too. Amen.

September Ends. Your Need for Rest Doesn’t.

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
— Psalm 46:10 KJV

Today’s Message

You made it through another month of showing up. Checking on your mother. Supporting your husband. Keeping track of needs, appointments, emotions—and the things nobody notices until you stop doing them.

But who checks on the woman everybody checks with?

You can be grateful and tired. Faithful and frustrated. Full of love and in need of ten minutes when nobody calls your name.

Being needed does not make you limitless.

As September closes, resist the pressure to squeeze one more task out of an already exhausted body. An unfinished list is not a failed life. Your love is not measured by how far you push yourself past empty.

“Be still” speaks first to recognizing God’s power. For your caregiving heart, it is also an invitation to remember: you are not the one holding the whole world together. You can entrust what you cannot control to Him while accepting practical help with what needs doing.

Let your shoulders drop. Unclench your jaw. Tell the truth when someone asks how you are.

September may be ending, but your permission to slow down comes with you into October.

Life Application

Arrange a safe handoff with someone you trust and take ten quiet minutes for yourself. Ask for specific help: “Can you sit with Mom while I rest?” or “Can you handle dinner tonight?”

Choose one boundary to carry into October. Put your rest on the calendar, too.

Today’s Affirmations

  • I can love deeply and honor my limits.
  • Rest is a need, not a reward.
  • Asking for help does not diminish my love.
  • God holds me while I care for others.

Prayer

Lord, You see the work and the weariness beneath it. Help me stop answering every need by ignoring my own. Give me courage to ask for help, wisdom to honor my limits, and peace when something must wait. As this month closes, remind me that I am Your daughter, worthy of tenderness and care. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You Are Allowed to Sit Down

“Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.”
— Mark 6:31 KJV

Today’s Message

Caregiver, you know how to keep moving. You can hear a need from the next room, adjust a plan before anyone notices, and say “I’m fine” while your body is begging for a break.

But the list can wait. Your body has been speaking. Listen before it has to shout.

Jesus invited His disciples to step away and rest. That invitation belongs to you, too. Sitting down does not mean you love your family less. Accepting help does not mean you have failed. You are a person God loves, even when you are doing nothing for anyone else.

So today, let one thing be unfinished. Drink something while it is still warm. Take the seat. Breathe. Grace will meet you there.

Life Application

Choose one task to postpone today. Take ten quiet minutes, and tell someone one specific way they can help you.

  • I am allowed to rest before I reach my limit.
  • My worth is greater than what I get done.

Slow Down Before Your Body Makes You

Exhaustion is not proof that you love harder. You are allowed to slow down.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 KJV

Caregiver, let’s tell the truth: sometimes you do not slow down because you believe everything—and everybody—will fall apart if you do.

You keep track of the medications, meals, appointments, emotions, paperwork, and unexpected changes. You carry your own responsibilities while preparing for what is ahead. You answer, organize, comfort, and keep moving—even when your body is whispering, “I need you to stop.”

But exhaustion is not proof that you love harder.

You do not have to collapse before you are allowed to rest. You do not have to earn a pause by finishing every task. And you are not failing the people you love when you take care of the person doing the caregiving.

Nanette, God sees how faithfully you care for your mother, support your family, prepare for your donor journey, and continue encouraging others. But He never asked you to disappear beneath everyone else’s needs.

Sometimes the holiest thing you can do is sit down, close your eyes, silence the phone, and admit: “Lord, I cannot carry everything today.”

Slowing down is not quitting. It is recognizing that you are human—and allowing God to be God.

Life Application: Choose one task that can wait until tomorrow. Then take ten uninterrupted minutes to sit quietly, breathe deeply, and release what you cannot control. Do it without explaining, apologizing, or feeling guilty.

Affirmations: I can love deeply without losing myself. Rest does not make me an irresponsible caregiver. I do not have to collapse to deserve a pause. God is caring for me while I care for others. What I cannot finish today can wait. I am allowed to slow down.

Journal Prompt: What has my body been trying to tell me? What can I release, postpone, or allow someone else to handle today?

Prayer: Lord, I have been carrying more than I admit. Help me recognize when my body, mind, and spirit need rest. Quiet the guilt that tells me I must keep going. Teach me to slow down before exhaustion makes the decision for me. Remind me that I am still worthy of care, even when something remains unfinished. Hold me while I hold those I love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Scripture: “My grace is sufficient for thee.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV

There are days when life asks more of you than you feel you have left. You may still be answering questions, handling responsibilities, watching over the people you love, making decisions, and caring for everyone else while quietly wondering, Who is holding me?

Today, God answers: My grace is holding you.

You do not have to hold yourself together by your own strength. God’s grace is present for you right here—in the weariness, the uncertainty, the responsibility, and the moments when your heart feels stretched thin.

Grace does not always remove the assignment, but it steadies you in it. Grace gives you room to breathe and reminds you that being weary does not mean you are failing.

Life Application: Pause for five quiet minutes today. Name the place where you feel weakest or most overwhelmed and pray, “God, let Your grace meet me here.”

Affirmation: God’s grace is enough for me today. I do not have to hold everything together alone. God is steadying me.

Journal Prompt: Where do I most need to rely on God’s grace right now?

You Are Not the Emergency

You are compassionate and dependable—but you are not limitless, and you are not the Savior.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 KJV

Caregiver, everything can feel urgent when you are the one everybody depends on. The medicine, appointments, meals, phone calls, paperwork, and late-night check-ins matter. But you cannot keep treating every need like an emergency and expect your soul to remain untouched.

You are compassionate—but you are not limitless. You are dependable—but you are not the Savior. You are the caregiver—but you are not the emergency. Some things can wait while you catch your breath. Some responsibilities can be shared. Some situations must be placed back into God’s hands because they were never yours to control.

Nanette, slowing down does not mean you love your family any less. It means you are remembering that the woman doing all this caring needs care too. Step out of emergency mode. Unclench your jaw. Lower your shoulders. Take a full breath. Let God hold what you cannot fix today. Slowing down is not neglect. It is holy wisdom.

Life application: Choose one thing that does not have to be handled immediately and intentionally let it wait. Use that time to sit quietly, drink water, step outside, pray, or simply breathe without serving anyone.

Affirmations: I am a loving caregiver, not a limitless one. I do not have to respond to everything immediately. Resting does not make me irresponsible. God is present even when I pause. I release what I cannot fix today.

Journal prompt: What have I been treating like an emergency that I can safely release, postpone, or place into God’s hands today?

Prayer: Father, quiet the urgency inside me. Help me recognize what truly needs my attention and what can wait. Remind me that I am not responsible for holding everything and everyone together. Teach me to receive the same grace I so freely give to others. Hold my loved ones—and hold me too. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Scripture: “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” — Exodus 14:14 KJV

You do not have to work yourself into the ground to prove that you love your family. Caregiving can train you to remain in emergency mode, but rest is not neglect. You can be devoted without being available every second, love deeply without carrying everything, and pause before your body forces you to stop.

Some things can wait. Some responsibilities can be shared. Some situations must be placed back into God’s hands. Pause. Put it down. Let God be God.

Life application: Release one task that does not have to be completed today. Take three slow breaths, ask God what is yours to carry, and accept one form of help without guilt.

Affirmations: I am still strong when I stop. Rest is holy, not selfish. I do not have to prove my love through exhaustion. God is holding what I cannot. I can care for others without abandoning myself.

Journal prompt: What have I been carrying because I am afraid something will fall apart without me? What can I put down today and trust God to hold?

The Caregiver Can Slow Down Too

You are still faithful when you rest, still loving when you pause, and still a good caregiver when you admit that you need care, too.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 KJV

As a caregiver, you are often the one watching, planning, remembering, helping, and holding everything together. Your mind may begin working before your feet ever touch the floor. Even when you sit down, your thoughts may still be running through medications, appointments, meals, phone calls, household responsibilities, and the needs of the person you love.

But today, God is gently reminding you: the caregiver can slow down, too. You do not have to move at full speed every moment. You do not have to complete everything today, and you do not have to feel guilty because your body needs rest or your heart needs a quiet moment.

Slowing down does not mean you are neglecting the person you care for. It does not make you selfish, lazy, or less faithful. Sometimes slowing down is the most loving thing you can do—for yourself and for the person depending on you.

God sees the things you do that no one else notices. He knows when you are tired, overwhelmed, or trying to remain strong for everyone around you. He is not asking you to carry every responsibility alone. Let one task wait. Take a slow breath. Allow God to care for you while you care for someone else.

You are still faithful when you rest. You are still loving when you pause. You are still a good caregiver when you admit that you need care, too.

Life application: Choose one task that can safely wait until later or tomorrow. Find a quiet place and sit for five uninterrupted minutes. Breathe slowly and ask God to quiet your thoughts, release the pressure, and restore your strength.

Affirmations: I have permission to pause. Rest does not make me less faithful. I do not have to accomplish everything today. God sees and values the care I provide. God is caring for me while I care for others. I can slow down without feeling guilty.

Find Rest in His Presence

Rest is not a reward for finishing everything. It is a gift from God that you can receive right now.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 KJV

Life can be demanding—especially in seasons of caregiving, family responsibilities, and the many roles we carry. It’s easy to keep moving, checking boxes, and pouring out for others until we feel empty. But Jesus invites us to do something different. He invites us to come.

Rest is not a reward for finishing everything. Rest is a gift from God that we can receive right now. His presence quiets our anxious thoughts, calms our weary hearts, and renews our strength for what’s ahead.

You don’t have to earn God’s rest. You simply have to come. In His presence, you will find peace, perspective, and the strength to keep going.

Life application: Intentionally set aside 10–15 minutes to be still in God’s presence. Turn off distractions, take a deep breath, and simply sit with Him. Let His peace refill you.

Affirmations: I can slow down and rest in God’s presence. His peace is enough for me today. I release what I cannot control. I am renewed, refreshed, and ready for today.

Scripture: “Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’” — Matthew 11:28 NLT

Caregiving can make every unfinished task feel personal. The laundry still waits. A phone call was not returned. An appointment needs to be scheduled. The house does not look the way you want it to, and there is always one more thing someone needs.

But an unfinished list does not mean you have failed. It means you are human, caring for another human being with limited time, energy, and strength. Jesus does not ask you to prove your love by exhausting yourself. He invites you to bring the weight to Him and receive rest.

Some things can wait until tomorrow. Some things can be shared with someone else. Some things may not need to be done at all. God’s grace is present not only in what you completed, but also in the places where you had to stop. Let today be enough. You are enough for this moment because His grace is holding you.

Life application: Look at what remains on your list. Choose the one task that truly needs attention today, ask for help with one, and intentionally release the rest until tomorrow without guilt.

Affirmations: I release the pressure to do it all. Rest is part of faithful caregiving. What remains undone does not diminish the love I gave today. God’s grace is holding me today.

Prayer: Lord, I bring You every unfinished task and every burden I have been carrying. Quiet the voice that tells me I have not done enough. Give me wisdom to know what matters today, humility to receive help, and peace to leave the rest in Your hands. Restore my strength and remind me that Your grace—not my perfection—will carry us through. Amen.

When you are caring for both parents, God’s grace is wide enough to hold all three of you.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “I will be your God throughout your lifetime—until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” — Isaiah 46:4 NLT

Caring for both parents can feel like carrying two lifetimes of needs at once. There may be two sets of appointments, different health concerns, changing emotions, and decisions that rest heavily on your heart. You love them both, yet even love can become weary when the responsibility feels endless.

God sees every detail you are holding. He cares for your mother. He cares for your father. And He cares for you—the daughter standing between their needs, trying to offer comfort, dignity, and strength.

You were never meant to become everything for everyone. The same God who has carried your parents through every season is carrying them now, and He is carrying you, too. Let His grace fill the places your hands cannot reach. You can love them faithfully without carrying the weight alone.

Life application: Write down one need for each parent and one need of your own. Pray over all three, choose only what truly requires your attention today, and ask someone you trust to help with one task this week.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the lives of my parents and for the privilege of loving them in this season. When their needs feel greater than my strength, remind me that You are our Keeper. Give me wisdom for every decision, patience for every difficult moment, and courage to receive help. Carry my mother, carry my father, and carry me, too. Amen.

Caregiving can make the road ahead feel long. Appointments, changing needs, difficult decisions, and responsibilities may crowd your thoughts until you wonder how you will keep going.

God is not asking you to carry the entire journey today. He promises renewed strength as you trust Him—strength for the next conversation, the next decision, the next act of love, and the next moment of rest.

You may feel tired, but you are not walking alone. Pause before the next step and let God meet you there. His grace will be sufficient for what is in front of you, and when another step comes, fresh strength will come with it.

Life application: Choose the one caregiving task that matters most right now. Ask God for wisdom and strength, complete that single step, and then give yourself permission to pause before moving on.

Prayer: Lord, when the journey feels long, renew my strength. Help me release the pressure to do everything at once and trust You with the next step. Give me wisdom, patience, and peace as I care for the one I love. Remind me that You are caring for me, too. Amen.

He offers you grace for this moment—strength for the task in front of you, patience for the conversation you are having, and peace for the decision you must make today.

When you feel overwhelmed, pause and remember: you do not need an endless supply of strength. You only need to receive the grace God is providing right now. Tomorrow’s grace will be waiting when tomorrow comes.

Scripture: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

Some burdens were never meant for you to carry alone. Yet we often hold tightly to our worries—replaying conversations, imagining worst-case scenarios, and trying to control outcomes that belong in God’s hands.

Today, God is gently inviting you to lay it down. Lay down the fear that keeps you awake, the responsibility that was never yours, the questions you cannot answer, and the situations you cannot fix.

Surrender does not mean that you do not care; it means you trust God enough to let Him carry what has become too heavy for your heart.

Declaration: I give my worries to God and receive His peace, care, and strength. What I cannot control, I place in His capable hands.

Prayer: Father, I surrender every anxious thought and heavy burden to You. Help me release what I cannot control and trust You with what I cannot see. Quiet my heart and fill me with Your peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Honour thy father and thy mother.” — Exodus 20:12 KJV

Caregiving can be one of the deepest ways we honor a parent. Every gentle word, patient pause, prepared meal, and loving act reflects a heart of gratitude.

Yet honoring your father does not mean carrying every responsibility alone. It does not require you to ignore your exhaustion or neglect your own needs. God cares about the heart doing the caring, too.

Some days will bring precious conversations and familiar laughter. Other days may require difficult decisions, repeated explanations, or quiet sacrifices no one else sees. Through every moment, God is present. He will give you wisdom for each decision, patience for each challenge, and grace when you feel you have nothing left to give.

Today, allow love—not guilt—to guide your caregiving. Honor your father while also receiving the rest, support, and compassion God provides for you.

Life application: Share one cherished memory with your father today. Afterward, take ten quiet minutes to breathe, pray, or rest without guilt.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for my father and the memories we share. Help me honor him with patience, dignity, and love. When caregiving becomes difficult, strengthen my heart and guide my decisions. Remind me that I am also worthy of care, support, and rest. Amen.

Helping Hands, Faithful Hearts

Caregiving is love made visible, and helping hands remind us that no one has to carry every burden alone.

Scripture: “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2 KJV

Caregiving is love made visible. It is found in the meals prepared, the appointments remembered, the medications organized, and the quiet moments spent sitting beside someone you love.

Whether care is given by a son to his father, a parent to a child, or one loved one to another, every compassionate act matters to God. Yet He never intended for one person to carry every responsibility alone.

Sometimes strength means continuing. Other times, strength means asking for help, accepting support, or admitting that you need rest. Allowing someone to share the burden does not diminish your love—it gives that love room to breathe.

Life application: Identify one responsibility that feels especially heavy today. Ask someone you trust to help, or graciously accept the assistance already being offered.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the privilege of caring for someone I love. When the responsibilities become heavy, remind me that I was never meant to carry them alone. Give me the humility to receive help and the compassion to offer it. Strengthen every caregiver and every family walking this journey together. Amen.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for remaining close to me. When I feel tired, worried, or overwhelmed, strengthen my heart. Give me patience for today’s responsibilities and peace about what I cannot control. Help me care with love while remembering that I need care, too. Amen.

Grace for the Caregiver

God’s grace meets caregivers in every demanding moment and gives permission to receive help and rest.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV

Caregiving asks much of your heart, body, and spirit. God does not expect you to carry it all alone. When your strength feels small, His grace remains abundant.

You may feel responsible for keeping everything together, but you are human—and you need care, too. Pause, breathe, and allow God to hold you while you care for someone you love. His grace will meet you in every demanding moment.

Life application: Before beginning your next task, take one quiet minute. Release what you cannot control, ask God for strength for this moment, and accept one form of help without guilt.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for seeing everything I carry. When I feel tired, overwhelmed, or inadequate, remind me that Your grace is sufficient. Give me strength for today, wisdom for each decision, and permission to rest. Help me care with love without losing myself in the process. Amen.

Let the Overflow Bear Fruit

Open to His Overflow

This weekend’s focus: caring for what God has entrusted to us and allowing His grace to bless others through our actions.

Scripture Reading: John 15:8; 1 Peter 4:10

Jesus teaches that bearing fruit brings glory to the Father. Peter reminds us to use the gifts we have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace.

Weekend Reflection

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

As we continue being open to His overflow, we can begin asking a deeper question: “Lord, how do You want me to use what You have already placed in my life?”

An encouraging word. A lesson learned through hardship. A creative idea. The ability to listen without rushing someone. These are gifts worth tending.

We can become so focused on what we hope God will do next that we overlook what needs our faithful attention now. There may be a relationship that needs a thoughtful conversation, a skill that needs practice, or a commitment that needs follow-through.

Fruit grows through continued care.

In John 15, Jesus connects fruitful living to remaining in Him. We draw strength from His presence, receive direction through His Word, and put that direction into practice. Over time, His work becomes visible in our choices: greater patience, honest words, dependable love, and generosity.

For those carrying caregiving responsibilities or moving through a demanding season, this invitation can be gentle. You can serve within your capacity. A brief prayer with someone, a sincere thank-you, or one thoughtful response can carry grace into an ordinary moment.

You also need nourishment. Allow someone to encourage you. Receive practical help. Make space for the rest that supports faithful living.

This weekend, give loving attention to one thing God has entrusted to you. Then look for one simple way to share its goodness.

The overflow takes shape when grace becomes something we practice.

Life Application

Saturday, October 24 — Tend What You Have
Choose one gift, responsibility, or relationship that needs attention. Take a manageable action: practice your skill for fifteen minutes, complete a promised task, or give someone your undivided attention.

Ask: “What would faithful care look like here today?”

Sunday, October 25 — Share What You Have
Use one gift to serve someone intentionally. Offer encouragement, share something useful you have learned, or provide a specific form of help that fits your capacity.

Ask: “How can someone experience God’s kindness through my actions?”

Affirmations

  • God has entrusted me with gifts worth caring for.
  • I can bear meaningful fruit through small, faithful actions.
  • My experiences can become encouragement for someone else.
  • I can serve with love and honor healthy boundaries.
  • As I remain connected to Christ, He shapes the fruit of my life.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for the gifts, relationships, and opportunities You have entrusted to me. Help me recognize what needs my care. Keep me connected to You so my actions grow from Your wisdom and love.

Give me patience to follow through, humility to receive help, and discernment about what I can carry. Let Your grace become visible in the way I speak, serve, create, and love. Grow lasting fruit in my life that brings You glory.

In Jesus’ name, amen. 🤎

Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:7; James 2:14–17
“For we live by believing and not by seeing.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7, NLT

Devotional Reflection

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Sometimes the next step feels harder than the whole dream.

We can picture the change we desire, but making the call, beginning the conversation, completing the application, or asking for support takes courage.

We may find ourselves saying, “Lord, I’m waiting on You,” while wondering whether there is already something clear and faithful we can do.

Walking by faith means trusting God while our view is still limited. We may not know how everything will unfold, but we can practice what His Word has already taught us: love sincerely, speak truthfully, seek wisdom, and care for one another.

James connects faith with action, using the practical example of someone who needs food and clothing. Encouraging words matter—and faith also moves us to respond to needs with whatever help we can offer.

What might that look like in your life this week?

Perhaps it is following through on a commitment. Perhaps it is approaching a difficult conversation with kindness. Perhaps it is making an appointment you have postponed or taking one manageable step toward a meaningful goal.

Faithful action can be quiet and ordinary. You do not have to make a dramatic move to make meaningful progress.

You can feel nervous and still act wisely. You can ask questions and still trust God. You can move at a pace that honors your health, responsibilities, and capacity.

This week, ask God for the courage to put your faith into practice—one thoughtful step at a time.

Life Application: Five Fresh Daily Focuses

Name one helpful step that fear has delayed. Break it into a task small enough to begin today.

Guide my decisions. Teach me to welcome good counsel and honor the responsibilities You have entrusted to me. Help me notice small progress and meet setbacks with grace.

May my faith become visible in the way I love and live.

In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🤎

Open Hands, Overflowing Grace

Release the Grip. Receive His Grace.

Grace For Today · October 12–16, 2026

Release the Grip. Receive His Grace.

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” — KJV

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Sometimes we say we trust God while our hands are still tightly wrapped around the outcome.

We pray, but keep rehearsing the problem. We offer help, but struggle to receive it. We keep showing up for everyone while quietly wondering how much longer we can keep going.

This week, let’s practice opening our hands.

You can care deeply without controlling every detail. You can be faithful and still need rest. You can love people and still acknowledge your limits.

When God spoke to Paul about grace, the difficulty had not disappeared. Yet God promised that His power would meet Paul in his weakness. That same passage invites us to bring our real needs to Him instead of waiting until we feel strong enough.

Grace meets us where we are—and helps us take the next faithful step.

Life Application: Five Days of Open Hands

October 12 — RELEASE
Name one concern you keep replaying. Bring it to God in prayer, then identify the part you can act on today. Entrust the outcome to Him.

October 13 — RECEIVE
Let someone help you. Accept the kind word, the practical support, or the offer to listen. You do not have to earn care by reaching exhaustion first.

October 14 — REST
Make room for a small pause: a quiet lunch, a short walk, or ten minutes with your phone set aside. Let that time become an honest conversation with God.

October 15 — RESPOND
Before answering something difficult, pause and pray, “Lord, guide my words.” Speak truth with kindness. Grace can shape both your tone and your boundaries.

October 16 — REMAIN
Some things may still be unfinished by Friday. Notice where God has sustained you. Choose one faithful next step and leave room for His timing.

Affirmations

  • God’s grace is sufficient for me today.
  • I can be responsible without carrying everything.
  • I can receive help without guilt.
  • I can speak with kindness and honor my limits.
  • I can trust God while the outcome is still unfolding.

Journal Space

Type your reflections, then copy and paste them into your own notes before leaving this page.

Prayer

Father, You know what I am carrying, including the concerns I struggle to put into words. Help me loosen my grip on outcomes I cannot control.

Give me wisdom for my responsibilities, courage to receive help, and willingness to rest. When conversations are difficult, guide my words. When progress feels slow, strengthen my trust.

Thank You that I can come to You with open hands and an honest heart. Teach me to recognize Your grace and extend it to others throughout this week.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Open your hands, Grace Family. There is grace for the step in front of you. 🤎

Open Hands, Overflowing Grace

Grace For Today · October 11–12, 2026

Open Hands, One Faithful Step

Scripture reading:
Proverbs 3:5–6

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Sometimes we ask God to guide us while we are still gripping the outcome.

We want to trust Him, but we also want the timeline, the explanation, and reassurance that everything will happen the way we pictured it. When life feels uncertain, holding tighter can feel easier than letting go.

But open hands make room for grace.

Proverbs 3:5–6 invites us to trust the Lord wholeheartedly, acknowledge Him, and depend on His direction instead of our limited understanding.

You can make responsible plans and still surrender the outcome. You can have unanswered questions and still take a faithful step.

Maybe your next step is an honest conversation. Maybe it is asking for help, finishing something you have postponed, or allowing yourself to rest. Faithfulness can look small and still matter deeply.

For these two days, practice this rhythm: release, then respond. Release what belongs in God’s hands. Respond to the responsibility He has placed in yours.

You do not have to see the entire road to take the next step with Him.

Life Application

October 11 — Open your hands. Name one worry you keep replaying. Pray over it. When it returns, gently remind yourself: “I have placed this in God’s care.”

October 12 — Take one faithful step. Choose one practical action within your responsibility. Take it without demanding that it solve everything.

Affirmations

  • I can trust God without knowing every detail.
  • I can make wise plans and surrender the outcome.
  • One faithful step matters.
  • God’s grace meets me as I move forward.

Open Hands, Overflowing Grace

Scripture readings:
1 Peter 5:7
2 Corinthians 12:9
John 15:9
Romans 15:13

Make room for what God is giving.

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Sometimes we ask God to fill us while our hands are still full of everything we are afraid to release—the unanswered questions, the expectations, the disappointment, and the need to make everything work.

Opening our hands can feel uncomfortable. We care deeply about what we are holding. But we can care without carrying every outcome.

Over these four days, let’s practice a simple rhythm: release, receive, remain, and overflow.

October 7 — RELEASE

Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7

What keeps circling in your thoughts? The conversation you cannot fix? The decision you cannot make for someone else? The future you cannot see?

God invites you to bring your worries to Him because He cares about you. You can take the next faithful step and entrust the outcome to His care.

Today, name one burden in prayer: “Lord, this matters to me. Help me place it in Your hands.”

Life Application · Release

Write down one worry. Identify one step you can take today, then pray over the outcome you cannot control.

Affirmation

I can care deeply and entrust the outcome to God.

Journal Space · October 7

Write here, then copy your reflection to keep it.

Prayer · Release

Father, help me release the outcome I cannot control. Give me wisdom for my next step and peace as I trust You. Amen.

October 8 — RECEIVE

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 12:9

You do not have to hide your weariness from God. His grace meets you in the places where your strength runs thin.

Sometimes receiving grace looks like accepting help, taking a quiet moment, or allowing yourself to begin again without rehearsing every mistake.

Today, make room to receive. You are worthy of care, too.

Life Application · Receive

Accept one offer of help, take a quiet pause, or begin again after a mistake without speaking harshly to yourself.

Affirmation

God’s grace meets me in my weakness. I can receive care and begin again.

Journal Space · October 8

Write here, then copy your reflection to keep it.

Prayer · Receive

Lord, meet me where my strength runs thin. Help me receive Your grace and the care You provide through others. Amen.

October 9 — REMAIN

Scripture: John 15:9

Some days, circumstances make it difficult to feel loved. Jesus invites us to remain in His love even then.

Bring Him your honest heart. You do not need polished words or a cheerful face. A whispered prayer in the middle of an ordinary day can become a moment of connection.

Today, pause before the next task and remember: “I am loved here, too.”

Life Application · Remain

Pause before your next task. Read John 15:9 and spend a few quiet moments with God, bringing Him your honest feelings.

Affirmation

I am loved by God, even when my feelings or circumstances are unsettled.

Journal Space · October 9

Write here, then copy your reflection to keep it.

Prayer · Remain

Jesus, keep me rooted in Your love. Help me return to You with an honest heart throughout this day. Amen.

October 10 — OVERFLOW

Scripture: Romans 15:13

Paul’s prayer points us toward God as the source of hope, joy, and peace. We can ask Him to renew those gifts within us as we trust Him.

Overflow may look simple: a gentle response, an encouraging message, a moment of gratitude, or the courage to try again.

You can offer kindness and still honor your limits. Let what God is nurturing in you find expression in one small act of love today.

Life Application · Overflow

Offer one small act of kindness: an encouraging message, a gentle response, or practical help that honors your capacity.

Affirmation

God is my source of hope. I can share kindness while honoring my limits.

Journal Space · October 10

Write here, then copy your reflection to keep it.

Prayer · Overflow

God of hope, fill me with joy and peace as I trust You. Let Your goodness flow through my words and actions. Amen.

Our reflection

What am I holding tightly—and what would it look like to trust God with it?

Our prayer

Father, help us open our hands to You. We bring You our worries, our weariness, and the things we cannot resolve. Teach us to receive Your grace, remain in Your love, and welcome the hope Your Spirit gives. Guide our next steps and let Your goodness flow through our words and actions. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Our Combined Affirmation

I can release what I cannot control, receive the grace I need, remain in God’s love, and let His hope flow through me.

Open your hands. Trust His heart. 🤎

Loosen Your Grip. Receive Fresh Mercy.

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Sometimes we wake up with our hands already full—carrying yesterday’s disappointments, today’s responsibilities, and tomorrow’s unanswered questions.

We want to make things work. We want the people we love to be okay. We want to know how everything will turn out. So we hold tighter, even when the holding leaves us tired.

Over these two days, let’s practice opening our hands: releasing what we cannot control and receiving the mercy God offers us.

Proverbs reminds us to trust God beyond our own understanding and seek His direction. Lamentations reminds us that His compassion meets us fresh each morning—even in seasons of sorrow.

Together, these Scriptures give us room to breathe.

You can take responsibility for your next step while trusting God with the outcome. And you can learn from yesterday without carrying its weight into every new morning.

Perhaps you need to release a conversation you keep replaying. Perhaps you need to apologize, accept help, or let something remain unfinished while you rest.

Surrender may take practice. When the worry returns, bring it back to God. When regret speaks loudly, remember that His mercy is still available.

A fresh start does not always mean your circumstances change overnight. Sometimes it begins with a softer response, an honest prayer, a healthy boundary, or the courage to try again.

God can meet you right there—in the life you actually have, with the strength you have today.

Open your hands. Let Him carry what is beyond you. Receive the grace to do what is before you.

Prayer: Father, my hands and heart have been carrying so much. Help me release the things I cannot control and take the next step You are guiding me toward. Where yesterday holds regret, help me make things right where I can and receive Your mercy. Meet me in my weariness, renew my hope, and teach me to trust You one day at a time. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Your two-day grace practice:
  • October 5 — Release: Open your palms and name one burden you are placing in God’s care.
  • October 6 — Receive: Complete this sentence: “With God’s help, today I can begin again by ______.”

Grace reminder: You do not have to hold everything together to be held by God.

Open Hands, Overflowing Grace

Scripture: Hebrews 4:16
Today’s Scripture invites us to approach God’s throne with confidence, trusting Him for mercy and grace when we need help.

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Sometimes we become so accustomed to being responsible that receiving feels uncomfortable.

We know how to show up, figure things out, encourage somebody else, and keep moving. But when it is our turn to need help, we hesitate.

I should be able to handle this.
Somebody else has it worse.
Let me get myself together first.

But God’s invitation does not require you to arrive with everything together. You can come tired. You can come uncertain. You can come with the prayer you can barely put into words.

You do not have to earn what God freely gives.

Hebrews 4:16 reminds us that we can approach Him confidently because He offers mercy and grace. Our need is a reason to come closer.

This October, open hands may mean releasing the pressure to prove you are strong every moment. It may mean accepting a kind offer, admitting you need prayer, or taking a quiet moment with God before reaching for your next responsibility.

You can be grateful and still need support. You can have faith and still feel overwhelmed. You can love people deeply and still need room to breathe.

Today, make room to receive. Tell God honestly where you need His help, and let someone’s kindness reach you without immediately feeling you must repay it.

Your hands do not have to stay full of pressure. Open them to His grace.

Prayer: Father, I have spent so much time trying to hold everything together. Help me bring my needs to You honestly. Release me from the pressure to earn Your love, and teach me to receive the mercy, help, and grace You offer. Give me wisdom for today and confidence to come to You just as I am. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s reflection: Where am I resisting help because I feel I should be able to handle everything myself?

Today’s declaration: I can come to God as I am. His grace is available to me today.

Release What You Cannot Carry

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Sometimes our hands are full before the day even begins.

We’re carrying yesterday’s conversation, tomorrow’s concerns, someone else’s disappointment, and the quiet pressure to keep everything together.

And somewhere beneath all that weight, our own hearts need room to breathe.

Today, God invites us to open our hands.

You can care deeply without carrying everything. You can love someone without having the answer to every struggle. You can take responsibility for your next step while trusting God with the outcome.

Psalm 55:22 reminds us where to place our burdens—and who will care for us as we do.

Giving something to God may begin with an honest prayer: “Lord, this is heavy. I need Your help.”

You may need to pray it again when the worry returns. There is grace for that, too.

Today, loosen your grip on one concern. Take the next faithful step that belongs to you. Let God meet you in the places your strength cannot reach.

Open hands make room to receive His care.

Prayer: Lord, You know what I have been carrying. Help me place my worries in Your hands. Give me wisdom for what needs my attention and peace for what I cannot control. Teach me to receive Your care as freely as I give care to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s Affirmation

I can care deeply without carrying everything. God cares for me, too.

Life Application: Write down one concern that feels heavy. Pray over it, then identify one practical step you can take today. When worry returns, pause and entrust that concern to God again.

Journal Prompt

What am I holding tightly, and what would trusting God with it look like today?

Today’s Grace Reminder: Your hands can rest. God’s care continues.

Release the Grip

You are cared for here, too.

Read October 2 devotional

Scripture: “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 NLT

Release the Grip

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

Yesterday, we opened October with an invitation: Open to His Overflow. Today, let’s make that invitation personal. What are we still gripping?

Sometimes it is a plan. Sometimes it is a person’s opinion. Sometimes it is the fear that if we stop holding everything together, everything will fall apart.

And sometimes, beneath all that effort, is a tired heart whispering, “Lord, I don’t know how much longer I can carry this.”

First Peter 5:7 gives us a tender place to begin: give your worries to God, because He cares about you. You do not have to clean up your feelings before bringing them to Him. The disappointment, the unanswered question, the conversation that hurt—He welcomes the truth of what you are carrying.

You can care deeply without carrying everything.

Releasing the grip does not mean walking away from your responsibilities. It means doing the loving, faithful thing that is yours to do, while placing the outcome in God’s hands. You can have the conversation, ask for help, take the next step, and still admit that you cannot control every response.

His care is not something you earn by being strong enough. It is available in the moment you feel stretched thin. Let that truth reach the places in you that have been bracing for another demand.

Today, open your hands. Name the worry. Tell God where it hurts. Ask Him for wisdom about your next step. If you need support, let someone trustworthy know.

The situation may remain unfinished tonight. You can still receive grace in the middle of it. You are cared for here, too.

Life Application: Write down one worry. Hold your hands open as you pray, “Lord, I place this in Your care.” Then choose one practical step that is yours to take today—and allow yourself a moment to breathe.

Today’s Affirmation

I am cared for, even while life is unfinished. I can release my worries and receive God’s grace today.

Journal Prompt

What am I holding that I need to place in God’s hands? What is one faithful step I can take without trying to control the outcome?

Prayer: Father, You know what I am carrying and where my heart feels tender. Help me loosen my grip on what I cannot control. Give me wisdom for my responsibilities, courage to ask for help, and peace as I entrust the outcome to You. Remind me that Your care reaches me here, before everything is resolved. October 1 Grace For Today infographic: Open to His OverflowOctober 1, 2026 · Day 1

Open to His Overflow

Open hands. Deeper roots. Room for God.

Read October 1 devotional

Scripture: “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.” — Colossians 2:7 NLT

Welcome to October: Open to His Overflow

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎

We spent September learning to slow down. Now, as October begins, I believe God is inviting us to open up.

And I’ll be honest: open hands can feel uncomfortable. We get used to holding everything together—the plans, the people we love, the responsibilities, and the questions we still can’t answer. Sometimes we grip so tightly that we leave little room to receive.

So our theme this month is Open to His Overflow.

Overflow doesn’t mean life will suddenly be easy or that every prayer will be answered the way we expect. It means God can meet us right where we are with enough grace for this day, wisdom for the next step, and strength that goes deeper than what shows on the surface.

Colossians reminds us to let our roots grow down into Christ. That kind of growth happens quietly. While the leaves are changing above ground, the roots are still reaching for what will sustain them. Maybe that’s where God is working in us, too.

This October, let’s loosen our grip. Let’s make room for His Word, tell Him the truth about what we’re carrying, and receive what He gives. We can come to Him with open hands, even before we know what comes next.

Life Application: Take a quiet moment today to name what you are holding tightly. Open your hands as you pray and ask God to help you trust Him with it.

Today’s Affirmation

My hands are open. My roots are growing deeper. I have room to receive God’s grace today.

Journal Prompt

What am I holding so tightly that I need to place it in God’s hands?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for carrying us into a new month. Show us what we’ve been holding too tightly. Help us grow deeper in You and recognize Your grace in the middle of ordinary days. We’re open to what You want to do in us this October. Amen.

Grace For Today Slow Down September Day 30: Keep Abiding Slow Down September · Day 30

Keep Abiding

The month may be ending, but the invitation remains: stay close to Jesus and keep growing.

Read Day 30 devotional

Scripture: “Abide in me, and I in you.” — John 15:4

Good morning, Grace For Today family. 🤎 We have reached the final day of Slow Down September—but this is not the end of what God has begun in us.

This month, we have practiced slowing down, quieting the noise, releasing the rush, receiving God’s peace, and trusting His timing. Today, Jesus gives us a simple invitation for the days ahead: Keep abiding.

To abide means to remain, stay connected, and make your home in His presence. It means we do not visit Jesus only when life becomes difficult. We remain close to Him through every season—the peaceful days, the uncertain days, the joyful days, and the days when growth feels painfully slow.

A branch does not struggle to produce fruit on its own. It bears fruit because it remains connected to the vine. In the same way, we do not have to force ourselves to become everything God has called us to be. Our responsibility is to stay connected to Christ and allow His life, strength, wisdom, and grace to flow through us.

The calendar may turn to a new month, but we do not have to return to rushing. We can carry this slower, steadier rhythm forward. We can pause before reacting. We can pray before making decisions. We can rest without feeling guilty. We can listen for God’s voice. We can remain rooted even when life becomes busy again.

And when we abide in Him, growth will come. It may not always be immediate or visible, but God is still working beneath the surface—deepening your roots, strengthening your faith, and preparing you to bear fruit in the proper season.

So as we close Slow Down September, do not leave behind what God has taught you. Remain in His presence. Move at His pace. Trust His process. Keep growing. Abide still. Grow on.

Life Application: Choose one practice from this month that helped you slow down and remain close to God. Carry it intentionally into the next month—whether it is morning prayer, quiet reflection, Scripture reading, journaling, rest, or simply pausing before you respond.

Affirmation: I will continue to abide in Christ. I am rooted in His love, guided by His presence, and growing according to His purpose.

Journal Prompt: What will I carry with me from this season of slowing down?

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for meeting me throughout this month. Help me carry this slower and steadier rhythm forward. Teach me to remain close to You when life becomes busy and distractions begin to compete for my attention. Keep my heart rooted in Your love, my mind settled in Your peace, and my steps aligned with Your will. May my life produce fruit that reflects Your presence within me. I choose to abide in You—today and in every season to come. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Grace For Today Slow Down September Day 29 devotional: Remain Thankful Slow Down September · Day 29

Remain Thankful

Let gratitude steady your heart while God completes the unfinished work.

Read Day 29 devotional

Scripture: “In every thing give thanks.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

It can be difficult to remain thankful when life still feels unfinished. We may be waiting for an answer, healing, provision, clarity, or the fulfillment of a promise. When our attention stays fixed on what is missing, we can easily overlook the goodness of God that is already surrounding us.

But gratitude does not require everything to be perfect. Gratitude says, “God, even here, I can see Your hand.” Even in the waiting, He is faithful. Even in uncertainty, He is present. Even when the work is unfinished, He is still working.

Remaining thankful does not mean ignoring disappointment or pretending difficult things do not hurt. It means refusing to allow what is unfinished to make us forget what God has already done. Today, pause and look again. There is still goodness here. There is still grace here. There is still something worthy of thanksgiving.

Life Application: Before focusing on what still needs to change, name three things for which you are grateful right now. Allow gratitude to change the pace of your thoughts and bring your heart back to peace.

Affirmation: I choose gratitude in every season. I will recognize God’s goodness in unfinished places. My waiting will not silence my worship. God is still working, and I am still blessed.

Journal Prompt: What am I thankful for today that I almost overlooked?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness. Open my eyes to the blessings I have overlooked. When I am tempted to focus on what is missing or unfinished, remind me of everything You have already done. Help me trust that You are still working, even when I cannot yet see the finished picture. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Grace For Today Slow Down September Day 28 devotional: Be Rooted Slow Down September · Day 28

Be Rooted

Stay grounded in Christ and trust the quiet work happening beneath the surface.

Read Day 28 devotional

Scripture: “Rooted and built up in him.” — Colossians 2:7

A tree does not remain standing because of what we see above the ground. It stands because of what has been growing quietly beneath the surface. Its roots reach deeply into the soil, anchoring it through strong winds, heavy rain, and changing seasons. In the same way, our spiritual strength is developed in the quiet places—in prayer, in God’s Word, in worship, and in the daily decision to trust Him.

Being rooted in Christ does not mean that storms will never come. It means the storm does not get to determine whether you remain standing. Sometimes God allows us to slow down because He is doing important work beneath the surface. Before He grows us upward, He often grows us deeper.

Do not become discouraged if your progress feels hidden. Roots grow in dark places before fruit becomes visible. Stay connected to Christ. Keep praying. Keep reading His Word. Keep trusting Him when you cannot see what He is doing.

Life Application: Choose one intentional way to strengthen your relationship with Christ today. Spend a few quiet minutes in prayer, meditate on a Scripture, or write down what God has been teaching you during this season.

Affirmation: I am rooted in Christ, strengthened by His Word, and sustained by His grace. I will not be moved by every pressure because my foundation is secure in Him.

Journal Prompt: What helps keep me rooted in Christ, and where is God inviting me to grow deeper?

Prayer: Jesus, deepen my roots in You. When life feels uncertain, help me remain grounded in Your truth. Strengthen my faith beneath the surface so I can stand steady through every season. Let my life grow from Your strength and produce fruit that brings You glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Grace For Today Slow Down September Day 24: Slow to Speak devotional graphic Slow Down September · Day 24

Slow to Speak

Pause, listen, discern, and speak with grace.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” — James 1:19

Sometimes slowing down is not about our schedule—it is about our response.

It is easy to speak quickly when we feel misunderstood, frustrated, offended, or anxious. We may rush to defend ourselves, correct someone, or say the first thing that rises in our emotions. But once words leave our mouths, we cannot always take them back.

James reminds us to be quick to listen and slow to speak. This does not mean remaining silent when something needs to be addressed. It means giving wisdom time to guide our words before emotion takes control of them.

The pause is not weakness. The pause is where we pray, listen, and discern whether our words will bring healing or harm. The pause gives God room to soften our tone and settle our hearts.

You do not have to respond to everything immediately. You can take a breath. You can ask for time to think. You can choose not to match someone else’s anger. You can speak the truth without surrendering your grace.

Life Application: Before responding to a difficult conversation, pause and ask: “Will my words bring clarity, peace, and grace—or am I speaking only from the emotion of this moment?”

Affirmation: I choose grace-filled words and a measured response. I will listen carefully, pause prayerfully, and speak wisely.

Journal Prompt: Where do I need to slow down my words today? What might change if I pause and listen before responding?

Prayer: Lord, help me to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Quiet my emotions so I can hear Your wisdom before I respond. Guard my heart, guide my tone, and let my words bring peace, truth, and grace. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Grace For Today Slow Down September Day 23: Listen for the Whisper devotional graphic Slow Down September · Day 23

Listen for the Whisper

Quiet the noise and listen for God’s gentle leading.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it.” — Isaiah 30:21

The world can be loud. There are voices telling us what we should do, where we should go, how quickly we should move, and who we should become. Then there are the voices within—our fears, worries, expectations, and endless thoughts competing for our attention.

But God’s guidance often comes differently. Sometimes it comes as a gentle whisper—a quiet prompting in your spirit, a Scripture that continues to return to your heart, or an unmistakable peace pointing you in the right direction.

God is still speaking. The question is: Are we slowing down long enough to hear Him?

You do not have to make every decision in a hurry. Give yourself permission to pause, pray, and listen. The Lord knows the way before you. When confusion surrounds you, His voice will bring clarity and peace.

Life Application: Before making your next decision, pause and ask, “Lord, is this the way You are leading me?” Spend a few quiet minutes without distractions.

Affirmation: I will listen for God’s gentle leading. I do not have to rush ahead of His direction. I trust God to show me the way I should go.

Journal Prompt: What may God be quietly saying to me right now?

Prayer: Father, quiet every competing voice and help me recognize Your whisper above the noise. Calm my thoughts, remove distractions, and make my heart sensitive to Your direction. Give me the wisdom to know when You are speaking and the courage to walk in the way You reveal. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Receive His Peace devotional infographic Slow Down September · Day 22

Receive His Peace

Peace is a gift. Open your heart and receive it.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.” — John 14:27

Sometimes we work so hard trying to find peace that we forget Jesus already told us where it comes from: Him.

Peace is not something you have to manufacture. You don’t have to get every situation under control, have every question answered, or make everybody around you act right before you can experience it. The peace Jesus gives is different. It can meet you right in the middle of uncertainty, responsibility, grief, change, waiting, and even a very full season.

Receiving requires open hands. Sometimes we are holding so tightly to the worry, the outcome, the schedule, the “what if,” or the need to fix everything that we have no room to receive what God is offering us.

So today, instead of forcing yourself to feel okay, receive His peace. When your thoughts start racing, receive. When something doesn’t go according to plan, receive. When you feel the pressure building, receive. When you don’t know what comes next, receive.

Life application: When tension rises today, stop for a moment. Unclench your hands, take a slow breath, and whisper: “Jesus, I receive Your peace.”

Affirmation: I receive the peace of Christ. I do not have to carry what God is asking me to release.

Prayer: Jesus, settle my spirit today. Quiet the noise in my mind and help me loosen my grip on the things I cannot control. Teach me to trust that Your peace is enough for this moment. I receive what You are giving me, and I release the tension I was never meant to carry. Amen.

Grace For Today Slow Down September Day 17: Walk Gently devotional graphic Slow Down September · Day 17

Walk Gently

Gentleness is not weakness—it is strength guided by humility and grace.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Walk humbly with thy God.” — Micah 6:8

There is strength in knowing when to slow down, soften your tone, and allow God to guide your response. Walking gently does not mean you are weak—it means you are secure enough to move without anger, pride, or the need to prove yourself.

Sometimes we rush ahead of God because we want immediate answers. At other times, frustration causes us to speak more harshly than we intended. But when we walk humbly with God, He teaches us to pause, listen, and respond with grace.

Today, you do not have to force anything. Let God establish your pace. Approach yourself and others with patience. Choose understanding before judgment, prayer before reaction, and humility before pride. A gentle spirit can bring peace into places where pressure never could.

Life Application: Before responding to a difficult situation today, pause and ask, “Lord, how can I represent You in this moment?”

Today’s Declaration: I will walk gently, humbly, and closely with God. My gentleness is not weakness—it is strength under His direction.

Prayer: Lord, quiet the hurry within me. Make my pace gentle, my words gracious, and my heart teachable. Help me walk humbly with You and extend Your kindness wherever I go. In Jesus’ name, amen.

There are seasons when God calls us to make room for what truly matters—and then trust Him enough to wait for it. Release distractions, surrender the pressure, and trust God’s timing. What He has for you will not pass you by.

Declaration: I choose what matters most, and I will wait with hope. I trust God to guide my priorities, renew my strength, and bring everything together in His perfect time.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Continue ye in my love.” — John 15:9

Abiding is not about striving to earn Jesus’ love—it is choosing to remain connected to the love He has already given us. When life feels heavy, people disappoint you, or your emotions are unsettled, pause before reacting and remember how deeply you are loved by God.

His love will steady your heart, soften your words, and guide your response. Slow down long enough to receive His love, then let that same love flow through you. Be patient. Extend grace. Speak gently. Forgive freely.

Declaration: I am rooted, secure, and covered in the love of Christ. Today, I will remain where love lives.

Quiet the Noise devotional infographic Slow Down September · Day 9

Quiet the Noise

Step away from distraction and make room for God’s gentle voice.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a still small voice.” — 1 Kings 19:12

Sometimes life becomes so loud that we struggle to recognize the voice of God. Our minds are crowded with responsibilities, worries, opinions, notifications, and endless thoughts about what must happen next. Yet God is still speaking—often through a gentle whisper.

God invites us to step away, become still, and intentionally listen. Silence the phone, quiet your thoughts, and release the pressure to solve everything immediately.

Life application: Set aside ten quiet minutes. Turn off every distraction, breathe deeply, and ask, “Lord, what are You saying to me in this season?” Then listen without rushing.

Prayer: Father, quiet the distractions around me and the anxious thoughts within me. Help me recognize Your gentle voice and trust Your direction. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Trust the Process devotional infographic Slow Down September · Day 8

Trust the Process

Slow growth is still growth. Trust what God is doing beneath the surface.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it.” — Philippians 1:6

Not all growth is visible. A seed can be buried beneath the soil with no outward sign of life, yet something important is happening below the surface. Roots are forming, strength is developing, and preparation is taking place.

The same is true in your life. You may not see the results yet, but God has not stopped working. The quiet season is not a wasted season. The delay does not mean denial, and slow progress does not mean failure.

God is developing your faith, strengthening your character, healing hidden places, and preparing you for what is ahead. You do not have to rush the process or force the outcome. The God who began the work knows exactly how to complete it.

Life application: Take the pressure off yourself to have everything figured out today. Surrender one area of impatience or discouragement to God and take the next small step He places before you.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for continuing to work in me, even when I cannot see the results. Quiet my anxious thoughts and give me faith to trust what You are doing beneath the surface. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You Have Enough Grace for Today

Release tomorrow’s weight and receive the strength God has already provided for this moment.

Read archived devotional

Scripture: “Do not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will have its own worries.” — Matthew 6:34 · EASY

Sometimes we carry tomorrow before it arrives. We replay what might happen, rehearse conversations that have not taken place, and try to solve problems God has not asked us to solve yet.

But grace comes in daily portions. God gives strength for this decision, peace for this hour, and wisdom for the next faithful step. You are not behind, forgotten, or without help. Pause. Breathe. Let today be enough.

Life application: Name the one thing you truly need to do today. Release the rest to God, and take your next step without carrying tomorrow’s weight.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for meeting me in this present moment. Quiet the worries that pull me into tomorrow. Help me receive today’s grace, trust Your timing, and walk faithfully in the strength You provide. Amen.

Love Makes Room for Hope

Sisters in Faith · Our Living Liver Donor Journey

October is National Liver Awareness Month, and this year, awareness feels deeply personal.

Liver disease touches someone I love—my one and only sister, Maria. Behind those words is a woman with dreams, people who love her, and so much life still to live.

As I prepare to become her living liver donor, I’m learning that faith doesn’t mean having every answer. Sometimes it means taking the next step with a trembling heart and trusting God to meet you there.

I want my sister to feel better. I want more laughter, more memories, and more ordinary days together—the kind we sometimes forget are precious.

This month, we’re shining a light on living liver donation and honoring patients, donors, caregivers, medical teams, and families walking through uncertainty.

Please keep Maria and me in prayer. Pray for peace in the waiting, strength in the preparation, and wisdom for everyone involved in our care.

Two Months Away, One Day at a Time

One Sister. One Gift. One Journey of Faith.

Today, we turn the calendar to October.

And suddenly, December 1 feels a little closer.

Two months from today, I am scheduled to become a living liver donor for my one and only sister, Maria.

There is something about seeing the date move closer that makes you pause. This is my sister. My body. Our family. A journey we are preparing to walk together, with so much hope and some questions we cannot answer yet.

I want my sister to feel better. That desire is still at the heart of my yes.

But saying yes does not mean I have to feel brave every minute.

I can have faith and still need a moment. I can be willing and still need reassurance. I can care for others and also allow myself to be cared for.

As our mother’s caregiver, that last part matters. I am used to thinking about what everyone else needs. This season is asking me to make room for my own needs, too—to receive help, speak honestly, and trust the people who will support us.

Maria and I will each have our own experience through this journey. We may need different things on different days. My prayer is that we give each other room to be honest without feeling we have to stay strong for one another all the time.

Some days, we may talk about preparations. Other days, we may just need to laugh and be sisters.

I want to remember those moments, too.

For October, I am holding close these words:

Prepare with purpose. Make room for peace. Take the next step with God.

I do not have to live all of December today. Today, I can pray, handle what is in front of me, and leave room for joy while we wait.

My prayer

Lord, thank You for bringing Maria and me this far. Prepare our hearts as we prepare for surgery. Give our medical team wisdom, our family strength, and both of us peace. Help us ask for what we need and receive love without hesitation. Walk with us through every appointment, every question, and every quiet moment. Amen.

October is here. We are two months away.

And today, there is grace for this step.

With love and faith,
Nanette

When the “Yes” Becomes Real

Preparing My Heart, My Home, and My Life for Living Liver Donation

Receiving the green light from Johns Hopkins was an answered prayer. But after the tears, excitement, and gratitude settled, another feeling arrived:

This is really happening.

On December 1, 2026, my sister Maria and I will walk into the hospital together. She will be preparing to receive a new beginning, and I will be preparing to give her a portion of my liver.

I said yes without hesitation—but even a faith-filled yes can carry questions.

There are moments when I feel strong and ready. There are also moments when I think about the surgery, the recovery, my responsibilities at home, and what it will feel like to temporarily become the one who needs care.

That last part is not easy for me.

I am accustomed to caring for others. As my mother’s caregiver, I am usually the one checking, organizing, helping, and making sure everyone else has what they need. This journey is teaching me that slowing down and allowing others to care for me will also be an act of faith.

Preparing More Than My Body

The preparation for living donation is about more than medical appointments. I am preparing my home, arranging support for my mother, thinking through recovery, and making space for Maria to recover with me once she is released.

I am also preparing my heart.

I am reminding myself that I do not have to carry every detail alone. God has already surrounded us with family, friends, our live-in home health aide, hospice support, and people who have offered their prayers and helping hands.

My responsibility is to prepare wisely—and then trust God with what I cannot control.

One Step at a Time

I do not know exactly what every part of this journey will feel like. But I do know why I am taking it.

Maria is my one and only sister.

If giving a portion of myself can help give her a healthier future, then this is a journey I am willing to take. Not because I am fearless, but because love is greater than my fear—and God’s grace is already waiting for us on the other side.

So, for now, we prepare.

One appointment. One conversation. One prayer. One faithful step at a time.

Scripture for This Part of the Journey

“The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” — Exodus 14:14 NLT

Reflection: Sometimes faith looks like moving forward. Sometimes it looks like slowing down, receiving help, and trusting that God is working in every detail.

There are moments in life when love asks you to do something bigger than you ever imagined.

For me, this is one of those moments.

On December 1, 2026, I am scheduled to become a living liver donor for my one and only sister, Maria.

Even typing those words still feels big.

This journey began with watching someone I love live with liver disease, praying for answers, going through evaluations and testing, waiting through uncertainty, and trusting God through every step.

Then came the phone call we had been praying for: We received the green light to move forward with transplant.

Why I Said Yes

People may wonder what makes someone willing to undergo major surgery for another person. For me, the answer is simple: She is my sister.

If giving a portion of my liver can give Maria an opportunity to feel better, live more fully, and experience more of the life God has for her, then this is a journey I am willing to take.

That does not mean I do not have questions. But greater than those questions is my faith. I believe God has already gone before us.

More Than a Medical Journey

This is a place to document the journey honestly—the preparation, emotions, lessons, surgery, recovery, and what life looks like afterward. I hope it encourages another donor, transplant family, caregiver, or anyone facing a season that requires courage.

Our Village

I am grateful for family, friends, our medical team, and every person who has prayed, checked on us, encouraged us, or offered to help. After Maria is released, the plan is for us to recover together at my home: two sisters healing together.

So, This Is Day One

December 1 will be surgery day, but this journey has already begun. We do not have to know everything about the road ahead to take the next faithful step.

Prayer: God, guide the surgeons. Strengthen our bodies. Calm our minds. Cover our family. And use this journey for Your glory.

Faith, caregiving, encouragement & quiet strength

I’m Nanette Ricks—a wife, mother, caregiver, ministry leader, wedding officiant, and lifelong encourager. After a 27-year career in public service and IT project management, I entered a new season that gave me room to listen more closely to what God had been nurturing in my heart.

My life has included beautiful moments, hard transitions, caregiving, grief, family responsibility, new beginnings, and countless reminders that God’s grace truly is sufficient. I do not write from a place of having every answer. I write as a woman who has had to trust God one day, one prayer, and sometimes one breath at a time.

Through every devotional, my prayer is that you feel seen, strengthened, and reminded that you do not have to walk through life alone.

With grace,
Nanette

Why Grace For Today

Because sometimes we only have strength for today

Grace For Today was born from real life—the kind that can be joyful and heavy at the same time. In seasons of caregiving, loss, transition, ministry, and change, I learned that God does not always give us the full map. Often, He gives us enough light, enough strength, and enough grace for the step directly in front of us.

I created this space for the person who needs a gentle pause in a noisy day; for the caregiver who has been strong for everyone else; for the woman rebuilding after loss or change; and for anyone who needs to remember that slow progress is still progress and quiet faith is still powerful.

Here you will find Scripture, honest reflection, practical application, prayer, and room to breathe. My hope is simple: that every visit helps you slow down, hear God more clearly, and receive the grace He has already prepared for you today.

A blessing for you

Pause & pray

May God steady your heart, renew your strength, and remind you that you are deeply loved. May His grace meet you in every responsibility, every transition, and every quiet moment today.

You are held. You are helped. You have grace for today.
